Ecommerce trends

3 ecommerce trends in 2020

We are living in the age of changes, but we need to adjust and find the way to keep our business on the top. Online sellers are continually fighting for new customer, adopting tools and techniques.

1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

AI

It is worthwhile to be curious, courageous and to reach for the unknown to discover new unrevealed paths. Companies who are ready to take the risk of working with cutting-edge technologies may win and become leaders of the future. This task is demanding but in effect gives new experiences to customers and attracts them with added value. For 2020, the trends are definitely AI and Machine Learning – based tools as a standard component of modern eCommerce.

2. Mobile

The most obvious direction in 2020 is mobile as it came out on top in many aspects of the investments made in 2019. Being more precise investing in:

    • mobile payments,
    • mobile apps,
    • social commerce (maybe it’s you who will come up with something new and beat tik tok),
    • security,
    • free shipping and returns,
    • one day deliveries

are the hottest topics in this year.

3. Google Shopping

Google, google and one more time google. Unless your brand and products are super well-known and you don’t need to appear in google search results, the majority of your customers are likely arriving at your website via organic or paid searches in google. Therefore, in order to show your products to more customers, you should be optimizing your ehop for Google Shopping. This is an extremely powerful sales channel – and can be an incredible SEO hack for online stores – can help to boost your conversions by over 17%. It’s worth to try 😉.

Take a closer look to the leader

amazon

In my personal opinion Amazon is the one who dictates the guidelines of ecommerce. Amazon is the most well-known marketplace, especially in the US where the company can count 50% of households as members in its Prime subscription program.  The company is not resting on its laurels, but continues to grow as a result of its dedication to trying new things.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Artificial Intelligence is one of the crucial factors in modern ecommerce and also a great way to serve users the exact content and products they are looking for. Once Amazon has shoppers’ attention, they think of new ways to keep their audience engaged. Whether it’s by introducing new TV and movie programming as part of Prime membership or access to new audio content, Amazon is always looking for new opportunities to evolve.

One of those opportunities is finding new delivery methods. Fast delivery is one of the biggest advantages of selling via shared selling platforms, and so why  Amazon come up with the idea of developing delivery drones. How awesome it will be to get a package delivered by drone to your door?!

Welcome to the new era

To sum this up I can say that we live in fast changing world and trends come and go, so  it’s important for ecommerce businesses to pay attention to what is happening in the market.

It is worth to remember that not everything that works for one business will necessarily work for yours.  Just because a trend isn’t a good fit for your brand doesn’t mean that you are stuck and left with no move. it’s just the opposite – it’s a good moment to invent something new and become a pioneer, about whom we will be talking in 2021. 😉

Best of luck!
